Toolbox ‘kicks-off’ Friday Kickball

Toolbox ‘kicked-off’ its inaugural Friday afternoon kickball game on May 12th.  It was great fun filled with elements of banter, laughs and bruises.  We aim to make this a weekly Toolbox tradition and welcome our Toolbox family and friends to come join us.

Happy Holidays!

Winter in Southern California is back! Which does not mean much as the coastal temperature remains unchanged most of the year! Our snowman was crafted by our staff but the weather disagreed as he was gone by the end of the day… Toolbox has had a very exciting year as our business has grown rapidly, allowing us to welcome many new team members. We are also thrilled for the new year as it brings many opportunities for us to expand our capabilities to help our customers and community.

Happy Holidays from the Toolbox team!

Toolbox Competes in Motorcycle Race!

On Friday, some of the Toolbox staff competed in a Mini Hard-Enduro hosted by our friends at RinseKit. Representing Toolbox in our Hawaiian shirts, we battled it out for glory and fame! We did not bring home the gold, but we had the time of our lives racing around a track full of tires and pallets. Check out the highlights below! You will not be disappointed.

Day at the Races!

Off to the races! The Toolbox team headed out to Del Mar Racetrack last week for some fun in the sun. For nearly 80 years now, Del Mar has hosted horse races in which multiple generations have attended. We did our best to make winning bets, but our luck did not always agree with us. Overall, the we enjoyed the outing and the opportunity to grow closer together as a team.

Toolbox Installs Clean Room and Pilot Assembly Area

Toolbox has completed installation of a Portable Controlled Environment Area and a pilot assembly line including injection molding, laser welding, heat sealing and filling/sealing of reagents.   Toolbox is now producing development cartridges daily to help one of our customers’ through the design integration and verification phases of their project.

Clean Room

Toolbox has spent the last several months designing, prototyping, testing and iterating the various functional areas of this cartridge using our couponing strategy.   As we entered the design integration phase, we discovered that it is difficult to find a single contract manufacturer with all of the requisite capabilities.  In addition, CMs are often not able to respond so quickly to the rapid iterative approach required during this phase.

According to Toolbox President, John Zeis, “The Toolbox culture is to do whatever it takes to help our customer’s get the job done.   One team members stepped up and said, if we can’t find someone to do it, then we will just need to do it ourselves.   I was blown away at how quickly and effectively, the guys were able to get this assembly area installed, qualified and operational.   Rob, Cole, Romy, Xavier and the other team members have also done an exceptional job of responding to rapid design iterations and intense production demands.”   By all accounts, this effort has saved our customer significant development time and cost.

Toolbox Mountain Biking

Sunny coastal breeze and 70 degree weather? One of the benefits of working in Southern California! Every Tuesday after work, some of the Toolbox team set out for a couple of hours of mountain biking. Calavera Mountain, a quick 5 minutes from Toolbox, offers great riding opportunities. Everyone at Toolbox is pretty active and our area is popular for outdoors and coastal adventure. Whether it’s surfing before work, soccer during lunch, or mountain biking after work, we find ourselves very blessed to live and work in San Diego county.
