Laser Welder Brings New Capabilities to Toolbox

We recently added a unique tool to our growing toolbox! Toolbox’s president, John Zeis, explains the significance of our Leister Laser Welder:
“Laser welding has always had significant advantages over other bonding methods for microfluidic/diagnostic cartridges. It creates precise, particulate free, hermetic seals without adhesives that may impact assay stability. Recent advances in laser welding methods have reduced cycle times to seconds, making it a viable high volume automated manufacturing method. The problem is that there is a high initial investment to purchase this equipment, and most contract manufacturers do not have a system in house that can be used for development. By bringing this laser welding capability in house, Toolbox has solved this problem for our customers.”
